Ordering & Pricing

How do I place an order?+

You can place an order by calling us directly, stopping by either our Spanaway or Lacey yard, or using the contact form on our website. Our staff can help you figure out exactly how much material you need for your project or you can use our online calculator.

Do you offer price lists?+

Prices can vary based on availability and market conditions. For the most current pricing, please call our yard directly or stop by in person. We're happy to provide quotes over the phone.

What forms of payment do you accept?+

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and debit cards. We also support Tap to Pay such as Google Pay and Apple Pay. For large commercial orders, please inquire about invoicing options.

Delivery

Do you deliver?+

Yes! We offer delivery throughout Pierce County and Thurston County. We can deliver any amount — just give us a call to arrange a delivery time that works for you.

How much does delivery cost?+

Delivery fees depend on the distance from our yard to your location and the amount of material. Call us for a delivery quote — we'll give you the total price including delivery so there are no surprises.

Can I pick up material myself?+

Absolutely! You can pick up any amount at either location. Drive through the yard and our team will load your truck, trailer, or vehicle. We can also help you figure out how much your vehicle can safely carry.

How do I prepare for a delivery?+

Make sure the delivery area is accessible to our trucks. We need a minimum of 10 feet clearance for our trucks. Clear vehicles, garbage cans, and other obstacles from the driveway or delivery zone. If you have a specific spot where you'd like materials dumped, mark it clearly or let us know when scheduling.

Products & Coverage

How much bark/rock do I need?+

Use our online calculator to estimate cubic yards needed based on your area dimensions and desired depth. As a rule of thumb: 1 cubic yard of bark covers about 100 sq ft at 3 inches deep. 1 cubic yard of rock covers about 80 sq ft at 3 inches deep. Our staff can also help you estimate in person or over the phone.

What's the difference between your bark types?+

Fine bark has small, uniform pieces and is great for flower beds and a manicured look. Medium bark is our most popular. It's versatile for general landscaping. Nugget bark has large chunky pieces that last longer and are great for large areas and pathways.

How deep should I apply bark or rock?+

For bark, we recommend 3 inches for standard coverage and weed suppression, or 4 inches for a new installation. For rock, 2–3 inches is typical for decorative purposes. For driveways, 4–6 inches of compacted gravel is standard.

Do you sell by the bag or only in bulk?+

We sell both! Bulk material (by the cubic yard) is the most cost-effective for larger projects. We also carry bagged gravel, bark, topsoil, decorative rocks, compost and other popular items for smaller jobs or easy transport.

Hours & Location

Where are you located?+

We have two locations: our main Spanaway yard at 1302 208th St E, Spanaway, WA 98387, and our Lacey yard at 9041 Pacific Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98513.

What are your hours?+

Both locations are open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed Christmas Eve through New Year's Day.

Can I visit the yard to see products in person?+

Yes, and we encourage it! We have samples in our office that you can see and feel each product before you buy. Our staff is always available to help you compare options and find the perfect match for your project.

Landscaping Tips

Should I put landscape fabric under my bark?+

It depends on the application. Fabric works great under rock to prevent mixing with soil. Under bark, it can sometimes cause problems as bark decomposes on top. Ask our staff — we've seen thousands of installations and can recommend the best approach for your specific situation.

What type of gravel is best for my driveway?+

For driveways in the PNW, we recommend 5/8" minus crushed rock as a top layer — it compacts tightly and drains well. For a base layer, 1¼" minus provides excellent stability. Recycled asphalt is another popular, cost-effective option that creates a semi-permanent surface.

How often should I refresh my bark?+

Most bark decomposes over 1–2 years in our PNW climate. We recommend adding 1–2 inches of fresh bark annually to maintain weed suppression and appearance. No need to remove old bark — it decomposes into nutrients for your soil.

What's the best rock for drainage?+

Drain rock (clean, washed round rock) is specifically designed for French drains, dry wells, and foundation drainage. For under-deck areas, 5/8" clean crushed rock works well. Our staff can recommend the best option for your drainage project.
